A vibrant floral beadwork design adorns the front and the sides, featuring white, light blue, green, translucent green, translucent purple, yellow, and rare striped seed beads. The high-top is outlined with striking purple and red porcupine quillwork, further accented by unusual striped seed beads.
Unlined and supple, these moccasins offer a natural feel and traditional construction. They measure approximately 8.5 inches in length, 3.5 inches wide at the broadest point, and stand about 10 inches tall.  Truly one of a kind— they are a stunning example of Cree artistry and cultural expression. Cree artisans craft moccasins to express cultural identity, skill, and connection to the land. Thus, they use smoked moosehide or deerskin to create soft soles for quiet movement—ideal for hunting, snowshoeing, and ceremony. Many follow a two-piece design with an apron insert, a style rooted in the Red River region by the early 1800s. Makers bead floral patterns and stitch porcupine quillwork to reflect nature, spirituality, and family lineage. They pass these techniques from one generation to the next. During the fur trade era, European traders and voyageurs embraced Cree moccasins for their comfort and durability. Today, communities preserve and celebrate them through museum collections and initiatives like the Moccasin Identifier, which affirms treaty relationships and Indigenous presence across Turtle Island.
