This unique book depicts the culture  and history of the native Mi’kmaqs of Atlantic Canada as portrayed in artwork and photography.  It begins with rock carvings made by Mi’kmaq artists and early illustrations of their interactions with European traders and settlers.  The rest of the book features artists’ renditions of individuals and every day life and late 19th century and early 20th century photographs of groups and individuals.  Some includes stories about what is depicted in the image.
