Whimsy Pin Cushion EXHIBITION 1934
Whimsy Pin Cushion EXHIBITION 1934
This beaded Whimsy Pin Cushion is ready to join your collection! The crafter made it in a spade shape with a mahogany colored velveteen front and a yellow-orange fabric on the back. It boasts a nice variety of Beads. The crafter used Clear Green, Light Green, Transparent Red, Cheyenne Pink, White, Clear Amber, Greasy Yellow, Pony Trader Blue, and Clear Pony Beads. You will also see small faceted Tube Beads paired with Clear Red Seed Beads. The words EXHIBITION 1934 are spelled out on the front. A strand of assorted Seed Beads serves as a hanging loop. This Whimsy is in very good condition with only a few beads missing from the edges. You will see that the fabric has worn and there are a couple of small tears. It measures 7" x 7" at the widest points, not including the hanging beaded loops.
It is a classic example of the Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenirs. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
