Whimsy Antique Boot Black & Red
Whimsy Antique Boot Black & Red
A crafter created this Beaded Whimsy Boot around 1900. It is a classic example of a Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenir. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade. This whimsy comes in the shape of a woman's boot. Red bias tape outlines the Black & Red Velveteen of the boot. On the back, the artist used a blue and white calico fabric, while on the inside you will see a multicolored floral fabric. The artist used Clear, Periwinkle, Clear Green, Clear Pink and Clear Yellow Seed Beads along with some Clear Light Blue and Clear Green Pony Beads and a single sequin to create the design. Then the crafter used clear Tube Beads to create small loops on the edges of the whimsy. At the top of the boot, you will see NIAGARA FALLS spelled out in White Lined Clear Tube Beads. The crafter used Clear Seed Beads to create a hanging loop. There is a small 'pocket' area at the top as well.
This Whimsy came from a collection, and it remains in very good condition. There doesn’t appear to be any bead loss. It measures 4.5" x 3.75" x 1.5".
This Beaded Whimsy will make an splendid addition to your antique or whimsy collection!
