Pottery Wedding Vase Small
Pottery Wedding Vase Small
This one of a kind Wedding Vase comes in terracotta clay with a red glaze. The potter added a painted geometric design over the glaze. Several Native American peoples, especially in the Southwest, have used Wedding vases as part of a marriage ceremony. On a Wedding Vase, one spout represents the husband, the other the wife. The looped handle represents the unity of marriage. A special beverage was added to the vase and the couple drank from it. Wedding Vases make a special gift for a new couple. This Wedding Vase measures about 6" tall. The top measures about 5" across, while the bottom measures just over 2" across. A previous owner had this Wedding Vase in a collection. It remains in very good condition, though some of the painted design has rubbed off. One of a Kind! Shop for more Pottery! This item has sold but we have archived it for reference purposes.
