Wapegnaki Hair Ornament Turquoise Yellow Hair
Wapegnaki Hair Ornament Turquoise Yellow Hair
Wapegnaki is a name for a Plains Indian Hair Ornament. These Hair Ornaments typically feature a strip of beadwork or quillwork with a length of hair coming from the bottom. They might also have feathers and tassels attached to them. Master Craftsman Andy Bullock makes One of a Kind Wapegnakis for us. Andy made this one with Braintanned Deerskin Leather with Lazy Stitch Beadwork. He chose Turquoise, Red, Cobalt Blue and Greasy Yellow Seed Beads for the main part. He added edge beading in Greasy Yellow and Cobalt Blue Seed Beads. Then he attached 9" of Yellow Horsehair to the bottom. Additionally, Andy created four tassels from White Center Red Tube Beads, Turquoise Pony Beads, faceted White Tube Beads, and 1" Brass Cones with bits of wool blanket at the bottom. He also created a 2" Concho from piece of Rawhide which he painted with Red, Yellow and Black. The center of the concho is an antique Millefiori bead. He lined the back with fabric. This Wapegnaki measures 18" long overall. The beadwork strip measures 8" long. One of a Kind! Shop for more Accessories! This item has sold but we have archived it for reference purposes.
