This handmade Wampum Belt features a nine row design. The crafter used Opaque Purple and Ivory Wampum Beads to recreate the classic Hiawatha Belt Design. He braided the Deerskin Leather Fringe into 3 braids. You will see small imitation sinew loops attached to the top the crafter used to hang this Wampum Belt for display.The five main units of the Hiawatha Wampum Belt represent the five Original Nations that comprised the Iroquois Confederacy. From left to right, this design represents the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca. The connecting line is the path of peace. Other Nations are welcome to travel the path of peace and seek shelter under the great tree.
You can wear a Wampum Belt as a sash or attach one to a Bag or Powder Horn as a strap. This 9 Row Wampum Belt measures 34″ long x 3.75″ wide excluding 15″ of fringe. One of a Kind!
