Skirt Osage Style Ribbonwork
Handmade Wool Skirt with Osage Style Ribbonwork
SOLD Hand sewn ribbon work makes this Skirt Osage Style Ribbonwork special. The seamstress made this very large women's skirt with navy blue wool fabric. The skirt has an elastic waist. It is not lined. The seamstress then attached hand sewn Osage style ribbon work to the front and bottom of the garment. The pieces on the bottom measure about 6 inches wide. The pieces laid together on the front measure 12.5 inches wide. The skirt itself measures 36 inches long. The waist measures 20 inches wide and 38 inches wide at the bottom (measured flat).A previous owner wore this skirt many years ago. It has deteriorated since then. You will see holes in the wool and the silk ribbons from insect damage. The ribbonwork on the front has faded at the top and bottom. The elastic at the waist is no longer usable. It would take a lot of work to make this skirt wearable again. There is a potential use for the ribbon work if someone removes it from the garment. Hand sewn ribbon work is uncommon. We are selling this Skirt Osage Style Ribbonwork as is. One of a Kind!
