Roach- Eastern Round Style

SOLD This Roach – Eastern Round Style is a striking example of traditional Native American headwear.   Master craftsman Andy Bullock brings exceptional skill to its creation. It features a hand-braided round yarn base measuring approximately 2.5″ in diameter. For the outer row, Andy used black bear fur and for the inner row he used traditional  6″  long porcupine hair.  This roach honors cultural heritage through its materials and construction. These Roaches attach to your head with a small hair braid (or scalplock) pulled though the center hole and  fastened with a roach pin.
One of a Kind. The Eastern Round Style roach has a long history as traditional male headwear.  Dancers wear them in ceremonial dance and cultural gatherings.  Unlike linear Mohawk-style roaches, the rounded design reflects regional aesthetics and spiritual symbolism. It echoes cycles of life and community. Over time, this style became a key part of powwow regalia and historical reenactments. It preserves ancestral craftsmanship while adapting to modern expressions of identity and pride.
