This Gourd Dance Rattle features intricate Brick Stitch decorations on the handle. The crafter made it using a real Bell Gourd. He used a wood dowel for the handle. On the handle he attached Brick Stitch Tubes in intricate geometric designs. He used 13/0 cut beads in Greasy Yellow for the background. For the design he used 13/0 Seed Beads Candy Pink, Pink lined Alabaster, Dark Brown, Cobalt Blue, Orange and more! 7" of Twisted Braintanned Deerskin Leather Fringe hangs from the bottom. A single lampwork bead decorates one of the strands. The dance for which this Rattle was made is called the Gourd Dance. The gourd dance is a Kiowa dance ceremony. The dance honors all warriors and veterans. The Rattle measures 11" long overall. The Brick Stitch beadwork sections measure 3.75" long, 1.5" long and 0.75" long. You will see that the top section of beadwork is damaged. The top section comes off so you can add your own dry corn, beans, stones, or seed beads for sound. One of a Kind!
