Quilled Birchbark Box with Two Eyes
Round Birchbark Box with Porcupine Quillwork
This round Porcupine Quilled box will be perfect for storing small items or as a welcome addition to your collection! The crafter made the box from Birchbark and Sweetgrass. He used natural Porcupine Quills to make the geometric and eye designs on the cover. The sides feature a lattice pattern of Porcupine Quills. On the bottom you will see a stamp that says "GENUINE Indian Work birchbark porcupine quills sweetgrass" and a label that says "MADE IN CANADA".Birchbark containers are traditional containers made from the bark of birch trees. They are typically used by Indigenous people in North America for storing and transporting food, clothing, and other items. When decorating them with Porcupine Quills, they soften and flatten the quills before attaching them to the outside of the box. This Quilled Box measures 5" in diameter and stands 2.25" high. It came from a collection. It is in excellent condition. One of a Kind!
