This cowhide Plains Style Pipe Bag is ready to go! The crafter used commercial grade cowhide to make the bag. He created the design with 10/0 Seed Beads in Red, White, Royal Blue and Green. The crafter created the same design on both sides of the bag, but 'mirrored'. The crafter also added Lazy Stitch beadwork to the sides of the upper portion of the Pipe Bag and around the top opening.At the bottom, he added strips of 11" Deerskin Leather Lacing Fringe. This bag comes with a loose piece of Deerskin Leather to tie the bag closed at the top. We think the crafter made this bag in the 1980s or 1990s.
This Pipe Bag remains in very good condition. We do not think it was used much. You will see a couple of stray marks on the leather and some of the bottom fringe pieces look a little tattered.
The Pipe Bag measures approximately 17" long and 7" wide. The beaded panel measures 8" long and 7" wide. The fringe measures 11" long.
