Mittens - Sled Fur Trimmed
Big, heavy mushing mittens will keep your hands warm! These mittens are similar to those used by dog sled drivers.  Ours feature Ojibwa style floral beadwork and real fur trim.  The crafter made these durable gloves with Suede Cowhide.  They come with fringe on one side and a hanging loop on the other.  Off white wool (possibly a blanket?) line the inside. You can also see a couple of dark blue wool patches on the inside.
We believe the crafter made these mittens around 1970.  The red wool background remains bright and there is no bead loss. The fur trim has not fared as well. You will see bare patches where hair has fallen out.
These mittens measure 16" long overall. The hands measure nearly 6" across and the wrists measure 8" across.
A previous owner wore these mittens, but they remain in very usable condition.
