Glengarry Beaded Bonnet

Add this fabulous Beaded Glengarry Bonnet to your Beadwork collection!  The crafter decorated this velveteen Bonnet in a classic Iroquois style.  He or she used 8/0 Pony Beads in White, Clear, White Center Red, Pony Trader Blue and Pumpkin to create the floral designs.  Around the edges, Clear Pony Beads flank 0.25" long Alabaster Tube Beads.  A line of White Seed Beads outlines the edges of the three velveteen pieces.
A second crafter finished this Bonnet.  Navy Blue bias tape with White Pony Bead accents finishes the bottom edge. Inside you will find a printed fabric lining.  A Black ribbon 1.5" wide x 10" long hangs off the back.  You will see on the right side of the Bonnet on section of the design looks like it has been repaired with newer Seed Beads.
Traders imported hats like these for exchange with Native Americans during the 19th century. Iroquois and Wabanaki crafters decorated them with Beadwork and Ribbons to make colorful accessories.
This Glengarry Bonnet measures approximately 9" long x approximately 4" at the widest point.  It is small, perhaps sized for a child.  It is in excellent condition and will make a superb addition to your collection!
