Fan- Hand-painted Feathers
SOLD Delight in the vibrant colors and sparkling cut seed beads on this striking flat fan with hand-painted feathers! The artist crafted this fan using beautifully detailed turkey feathers, hand-painted to resemble majestic eagle feathers. The handle showcases a dazzling peyote stitch design, created with shimmering cut seed beads that sparkle far more than the photograph can capture.Set against a Royal Blue background, the artist used peyote stitch to weave bold geometric patterns in bright primary colors—royal blue, green, yellow, white, and red. At the base of the handle, 6 inches of fine twisted white deerskin leather fringe adds elegant movement and texture.
The beaded handle measures 5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Including the fringe, the entire fan spans 23 inches in length.
One of a Kind!
A flat fan with hand-painted feathers is a culturally rich and visually striking item, often used in Native American traditions, ceremonial contexts, and artistic performances. Flat fans are commonly carried by both male and female dancers during powwows. They complement dance outfits and are used in various dance styles, including Straight Dancing and Women's Traditional. The feathers—especially when painted to resemble eagle feathers—symbolize strength, and honor. Hand-painted feathers are often used when real eagle feathers are unavailable due to legal protections.
