Drawstring Beaded Bag

This beautiful Drawstring Beaded Bag will make your day!  We think this antique bag comes from around the 1880s.  The crafter likely made it for personal use, rather than a tourist souvenir.  He or she may have been Micmac or Maliseet. For the front and back panels, the crafter used red wool fabric.  The top consists of a printed cotton fabric. You will notice the unusual construction that includes side panels  that add width to the bag.
The crafter used several colors of Seed Beads, including White Center Red, Mustard, Periwinkle, Cobalt Blue, Clear Green, and White.  Nearly all of the beadwork remains intact!  You will see where some beads are missing from the top.  The floral design is the same on both sides of the bag, but with different color combinations.
This bag belonged to a previous owner, but remains in very good, if fragile, condition. The top is especially fragile.
The bag measures approximately 5.5" x 4" at the widest point.
