Cradleboard Antique

This Antique Cradleboard is ready for display in your home!  It is in remarkably good condition for its age, as the crafter made it around the turn of the 20th century.  Previously, it was part of a museum collection so it has been well preserved.
The crafter used Willow wood to make the frame and visor.  Willow wicker splints weave between the visor and frame splints. Rawhide Lacing holds the wicker parts to the main frame. Then the crafter added a Braintanned Deerskin Leather covering, wtih Braintanned Deerskin Leather Lacing to hold it together in the front.
The crafter added minimal decoration to this Cradleboard.  You will see the red diamond pattern done with yarn or thread adorning the visor.  And the crafter added a piece of Braintanned Deerskin Leather to the front of the visor and cut the edge of it into a sawtooth pattern.  It is likely that the crafter made this Cradleboard for everyday use, and did not add further decorations to it.  On the back, you will find a piece of Strap Leather than can be used to hang the Cradleboard for display.
Evidence of the Cradleboard's time in a museum include the black number that appears on the bottom frame and the manila paper tag that says "(cas?)e 2 I Mission Papoose Case".
Collectors will find this Antique Cradleboard in very good condition.  The Braintanned Deerskin Leather remains intact.  You will see the repaired break on the left side which someone braced with a wood slat bound with thread.
This Cradleboard measures 38" long overall.  The widths vary from 14" wide at the top to 6" wide at the bottom.  The visor stands 12" high.
