Beaded Blanket Strip with Selvedge Edge Wool

SOLD This  Beaded Blanket Strip features three 5" Rosettes. The crafter beaded the rosettes on  Deerskin Leather. A bone button appears in the center of each Rosette. Beaded Deerskin tassels hang from the center of each rosette.  The crafter attached the beaded strip to a piece of selvedge edge red wool.
The crafter beaded this strip with Seed Beads in Transparent Blue, Light Blue, Transparent Green, Transparent Red, White and Greasy Yellow.  On the bottom he added 0.75 inch wide blue and white ribbon trim.
The Native Americans of the Northern Plains created Beaded Blanket Strips in the mid 19th century. Blanket Strips originated as a means to cover the seam when two Braintanned Buffalo Hides were sewn together to create one large robe. Eventually, Native American crafters began to use wool Trade Blankets for robes. They added their beaded strips to them in a purely decorative manner.
The beaded portion of this Blanket Strip measures approximately 58" long. It includes a total of 3 rosettes, each measuring 5" in diameter. The blanket itself measures approximately 71" x 62".  This Blanket Strip came from a collection.  You will see minimal signs of wear.  One of a Kind!
