This beautiful Vintage Handkerchief Basket will be the star of your collection! The basket maker used both wide and narrow Ash Splits alongside strands of braided Sweetgrass. The colors of the splints really stand out: Yellow, Pink, Green, Brown, Red, Orange, Blue and Black. Handkerchief Baskets were popular with tourists and collectors at the turn of the 20th century. The lid lifts to expose a square shaped opening. Victorian ladies used baskets like this to store their handkerchiefs. This Basket has retained its striking colors and looks like new! Each of the closing rings and the hinge remain intact. You will not see any breaks in the splints. This Basket measures just over 5" square and stands about 1" high.
