Basket Vase Sweetgrass and Ash
This small Sweetgrass and Ash Basket Vase is made with braided sweetgrass, woven ash splints around a glass jar. The crafter dyed the ash splints red, yellow, green and blue. Although the color has faded more on the sides, you can still see the bright colors on the bottom.Urn shaped ash and sweet grass plaited vases were made in the early 1900’s and were sold in the White Mountains, interior lakesides and coastal resort areas.
This vase remains in good condition. and measures approx. 4.5″ tall and 3″ wide at the largest section on the top and the base. The vase opening measures 1.5".
