Basket Sweetgrass Ash Handkerchief
This Basket Sweetgrass Ash Handkerchief is a great addition to any collection! The craftsman used 1/2" wide burnt orange colored ash splints interwoven with sweetgrass braids to create a criss-cross design. As an additional touch, they wove more sweetgrass and ash into a handled lid. The ash splints have split in some places, however the basket remains fully functional. Believed to be from the Northeast and made circa the 1960s.The basket measures approximately 9 1/2" by 9 1/2" with a 5" by 5" square opening. It is 2" high.
