SOLD This Northwest California Basket with Lid will be a splendid addition to your Basket collection! The basket maker used Cedar Bark to make the frame of the basket and both natural and dyed Beargrass to create the geometric design. The lid has some damage around the button which may not be original to this piece. The button is loose and can come off the lid. You will also see that there is also a substantial crack in the side of the basket. You will need to handle it carefully.The tribes of Northwestern California have been producing woven baskets for thousands of years and they have passed down the art of basket weaving from generation to generation. Today, many indigenous artists continue to create these beautiful and functional baskets, which are highly prized by collectors and art enthusiasts around the world.
