Basket Antique Lidded Makah
Basket Antique Lidded Makah
This Antique Makah Basket comes complete with a lid. The basketmaker used Red and Black dye to create the design. Waterbirds appear on the top and sides of this basket along with a band of Red. Makah Natives used Bear Grass and Cedar bark to make their Baskets. Red and Black were important colors to the Makah. The color of the designs has faded on the outside, but you can see the original brilliance of the red on the inside of the Basket and the lid. You will notice that the inner rim of the Basket has been crushed. Part of the edge of the lid has come apart from the top.
This Basket measures 2" tall with the lid on. It measures 4" in diameter. It will make a nice addition to your Basket collection!
