Bag Buffalo Bladder Quilled
Quilled Buffalo Bladder Bag with Fringe
SOLD This Quilled Buffalo Bladder Bag comes ready to use, filled with natural porcupine quills! Or, keep it as a unique collectible example of Native American Porcupine Quillwork! The crafter dried and flattened the bladder cutting an opening along the side and hemmed with some stitching. Next they added a strip of leather fringe along the opening and two leather tassels at the end. The tassels have a red quill wrapped around the top. Brain tanned deerskin leather reinforces the sides along with dyed Porcupine Quillwork in Red, Yellow and Purple, making it both functional and artistic! This piece is a traditional Native American bag made from the bladder of a buffalo and decorated with porcupine quills. The bladder is cleaned, dried, and treated to make it waterproof. Porcupine quills are dyed and then sewn onto the surface of the bag in intricate patterns and designs, creating a beautiful and functional work of art. The bags are used to store the quills for craftwork.
This buffalo bladder bag measures 15" long x 4" at the widest point. It is in very good condition.
