Antique Moccasins Youth Northern Plains
Moccasins Youth Northern Plains
Bring these exquisite Antique Youth Northern Plains Moccasins home! We believe these Moccasins come from around 1910 and they remain in fabulous condition! The crafter made them from Braintanned Deerskin Leather and sewed them with real Deer Sinew. He used Buffalo Rawhide for the soles. The crafter created a Checkerboard design using Lazy Stitch on the top of the Moccasins using Clear Green, White, Cobalt Blue and a single Turquoise Seed Bead. Additional beadwork follows the bottom of the Moccasin and goes up the back. The crafter attached a decorative ribbon around the cuff with black thread. He attached the folded part of the cuff separately.
One of these Moccasins comes with a painted piece of Parfleche as an insole. They measure 9" long x 3.5" wide. They stand about 3.25" tall at the cuff.
These Moccasins are in good condition for their age. You will see soiling from wear. The beadwork appears to be intact. You will also see a couple of places where the Braintanned Deerskin has split. One of the lacing ties is missing.
These Moccasins will make a delightful addition to a collection, but they are too fragile to be worn.
