Herb – Red Willow Bark

Red Willow Bark has pain reduction and inflammation reduction properties (from the salicyclic acid).  It may work in a way similar to aspirin.  Historically, users chewed small amounts of the bark to release the salicyclic acid. Native Americans have traditionally added to Red Willow Bark to their smoking mixtures.

Red willow bark, also known as Cornus stolonifera (Red Osier Dogwood), holds deep cultural and medicinal significance in Native American traditions. It is often used in ceremonies, particularly in sacred pipe rituals, where it is blended with tobacco or other herbs to promote spiritual connection and respect. Medicinally, red willow bark has been used as a remedy for coughs, colds, fevers, and headaches. Some Native American healers prepare it as a tea or tincture, while others smoke it for direct respiratory benefits. It is also believed to help with nausea, eye health, and relaxation.

We offer Red Willow Bark in 1 ounce packages.
