Osha root (Ligusticum porteri), also known as bear root or mountain lovage, is a perennial herb native to the Rocky Mountains and parts of Mexico. It has been traditionally used in Native American and Latin American medicine for its respiratory benefits, particularly for treating coughs, colds, bronchitis, and flu symptoms. While osha root has a long history of traditional use, scientific research on its effectiveness is still limited.
