Baskets Sweetgrass and Ash Vases Set
Set of 3 Ash Splint Covered VasesWe offer these three small Baskets Sweetgrass and Ash Vases as a set. You will find them each uniquely made with braided sweetgrass, woven ash splints and Hong Kong cord. The crafter dyed the ash splints red and blue. Though it has faded on the sides, you can still see the color on the bottom. Each basket surrounds a glass vase and remains in good condition.
Urn shaped ash and sweet grass plaited vases were made in the early 1900's and were sold in the White Mountains, interior lakesides and coastal resort areas.
From left to right, the tallest vase measures approx. 5″ tall and 4" wide at the largest section and the base measures 3". The basket maker used a cross stich with the ash on the the rim. Most of the color has faded on the piece, but can still be seen on the bottom.
The two smaller vases measure approx. 4″ tall and 4" wide at the largest section and the base measures 3.5". One has the more color remaining than the other and both have a cross stich on the rim. Sold only as a set! One of a Kind!
