Powder Horn with Wampum Strap

This Powder Horn with Wampum Strap comes with a One of a Kind Reproduction Glass Wampum Bead Strap. The Powder Horn itself is a nice light color and is well polished.  Furthermore, the fitted wooden closures at both ends of the horn keep your powder dry.

Master Craftsman Andy Bullock created the Reproduction Glass Wampum Bead Strap. He used White and Clear Cobalt Blue Reproduction Glass Wampum Beads in three rows.

This Powder Horn measures approx. 12″ long. And the Wampum Strap measures 35″ long x 1.5″ wide.

Powder horns are containers used to hold gunpowder. Historically, soldiers made Powder Horns from cows, oxen or buffalo horns. Natural horn has the advantage of being waterproof and already hollow inside. Stoppers of wood or bone or horn inserted at each end of the horn kept the powder dry. A soldier filled the horn with gunpowder at the large end, and dispensed powder from the smaller end.
Soldiers sometimes decorated their Powder Horns with carvings or inlays. They usually carried them with a long strap over their shoulder.
The Wandering Bull offers Powder Horns as collectible items. Historical re-enactors also use Powder Horns as part of their kit.
You can choose from our standard stock Powder Horn or one of the One of a Kind horns that we acquire from other collectors.

This Powder Horn with a Wampum Strap is an ideal accessory for your Re-enactment regalia! In addition, you get two One of a Kind items in one!
