Horn Spoon Quilled Handle
This large Horn Spoon comes with Quillwork wrapped around the handle. The crafter wrapped a 1/8″ wide strip of Orange, Turquoise and Yellow Quillwork around the handle of this translucent Horn Spoon. He or she used Imitation Sinew to hold the Quillwork in place.
Several Native American tribes created horn spoons from Sheep or Elk horn. They removed the outer part of the horn and carved it. Then they softened it in hot water to further modify the shape. Sometimes they decorated them with carvings.
This spoon is for decorative purposes. It is in very good condition, and will make a fine addition to your spoon or quillwork collection!
It measures about 8″ long. The bowl measures approximately 3.5″ long x 2″ wide. The quillwork section measures 2″ long.
