Hat Wooden Reproduction NW Coast
This imported Hat Wooden Reproduction NW Coast with a figural image is carved and painted onto wood native to Bali where it was made. The artist painted the teeth and carved a design on the rim as well as carving the eyes, nose and mouth.
Chiefs would wear hats like these during war to stand out above everyone else in battle. Ferocious faces were carved onto them to distract their enemies. This hat is a reproduction of the Haida style noted on the bottom and is about 20 years old.
