This small vintage Tamarack Goose Decoy is made from twigs of the Tamarack tree. Life-size geese were traditionally made by the Cree as decoys for spring and fall hunts. When held against the snow, the hole in the head looks like the white patch on the head of the Canadian Goose. Smaller versions were later made as tourist souvenirs.
This piece measures 8″ long x 3″ wide and 3″ tall.
