Baskets Set of 2 Mohawk

This basket set was handmade by a Mohawk from the St. Regis Reservation at Akwesasne. The artist created these baskets from ash splints and multi-toned sweetgrass from Akwesasne.
"Crafted in the same traditional manner that has been passed down for generations, the basket is a symbol of the pride and culture of the Mohawk people."

This set of two baskets is a lovely addition to any collection. The larger basket measures 4" tall with the lid on, and has a 5 3/4" wide opening. The lid is 6 1/2" in diameter and has a delicate braided sweetgrass handle. Braids of sweetgrass are interwoven on the lid and near the base of the basket. A note detailing the background of the baskets and how to take care of it can be found inside( see photo). The smaller basket is identical to its companion in construction. It measures 3 1/2" tall and has a 4 3/4" wide opening. Its lid is 5 1/2" in diameter.
