Basket Oval Sweetgrass with Quilled Cherries
Add this delightful Sweetgrass Basket to your collection! The basket maker started with a Birchbark bottom and made the sides with rows of Sweetgrass. The lid has a Birchbark center surrounded by rows of Sweetgrass. The basket maker created a Cherry design with Red & Green Porcupine Quills. Additional Green and Light Blue Quills outline the edges of the lid and the top of the Basket. The lid attaches to the bottom with a thread in the back. Two strands of fiber allow you to tie it closed at the front.
It measures 7.25″ long x 5.25″ wide and stands 2.5″ tall.
This Basket came from a collection and is in very good condition. You will see minor Quill loss in the design and the edges. One of a Kind!
