Basket Handmade Mohawk

This basket was handmade by a Mohawk living on the St. Regis Reservation at Akwesasne. The artist created the basket from ash splints and multi-toned sweetgrass from Akwesasne.
"Crafted in the same traditional manner that has been passed down for generations, the basket is a symbol of the pride and culture of the Mohawk people."
This basket is a lovely addition to any collection. It measures 3" tall with the lid on, and has a 3 1/2" wide opening. The lid is 4" in diameter and has delicate ash curls in the center. The cover is woven with mainly sweetgrass.  A note detailing the background of the basket and how to take care of it can be found inside (see photo).
