Basket Bottles Set of Two

Basket Bottle Set of Two

We offer these two small Baskets Bottles as a set.  You will find them each uniquely made with braided sweetgrass, woven ash splints and Hong Kong cord. The crafter dyed the ash splints red and blue and weaved them around a glass vase. Both pieces are in good condition.
Basket makers in the early 1900’s made urn shaped ash and sweet grass plaited vases and sold them in the White Mountains, interior lakesides and coastal resort areas.
The shorter vase measures approx. 5″ tall and 4.5″ wide at the largest section and the base measures 3.25″. The basket maker used a cross stich with the ash on the the rim and decorated it with braided sweetgrass. Additionally, the handles are in good condition and are made of ash splints.
The larger vase measure approx. 6″ tall and 4″ wide at the largest section and the base measures 3″. He or she made this piece with cross stich on the rim and ash splint handles. In addition, they decorated it with Hong Kong cord on the rim and sides.
