Birchbark Container with Bear etchings
This Etched Birchbark Basket features Bears on the cover and sides. The artist etched the designs on the back of the Birchbark while it was still green. As it dried, the image darkened. The artist etched Bear images on the cover and both sides of the container. The artist used spruce root to hold the container together. He made the cover with two pieces of Birchbark. The cover is very sturdy and you can take it completely off the container. You will see holes on either end with Leather Lacing that serves as a handle.This Birchbark Basket stands 5.5″ tall. The bottom measures 5″ x 4″. The cover measures 6″ x 4.75″. We got this container from a collection. Structurally it is in very good condition. It will make a lovely display piece! One of a Kind!
