Deer Skull Beaded Reproduction
This Beaded Deer Skull reproduces a historical piece produced by Plains Indians around the turn of the 20th century. To create this unique wall hanging, the crafter first covered the skull with leather and felt. Then, he used Lazy Stitch to apply the beadwork, except for the antlers. To cover the antlers, he carefully wrapped strings of Seed Beads around them.
The crafter used Reproduction Seed Beads on this piece. The White Seed Beads are slightly translucent, so they have more of a blue/gray look than stark white. He also used White Center Red, Cheyenne Pink, Pony Trader Blue, Mustard Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Arapaho Green and Black Seed Beads. The antlers show a random mix of bead colors know as ‘Salt & Pepper’.
The head measures approximately 13″ top to nose, and 11″ across from ear to ear. The antler spread measures about 17″ across. It comes with a metal loop for hanging.
