Northern Plains Style Reproduction War Shirt
This War Shirt Reproduction comes in Smoke colored Deerskin Leather. The crafter made this leather shirt in a Northern Plains Reproduction style. The cut of the shirt resembles an older style with the animal legs hanging from the back. The sides of the shirt remain open, with Deerskin Leather Lacing Ties holding them closed. The crafter tacked sections of the underside of the sleeves closed. The smooth side of the Leather faces the outside of the shirt. The crafter painted both sides of the shirt with Green, Black and Red paint. On the sleeves you will see several stripes of Red paint. The crafter cut short fringe along the edges of the sides, bottom and cuffs. He added more 5 inch long fringe to the dropped shoulders and underneath the sleeves.
6 inch long yokes appear on both sides of the top. They end with 5 inch long fringe around 2 sides. The crafter painted the back yoke with Dark Green and Red. On the front yoke, he added lazy stitch beadwork with Pony Trader Blue and White Center Pink Pony Beads. He also painted the fringe Green on this side. Around the neck opening, the crafter attached a band of Red Wool.
This shirt measures approximately 30 inches long at the shortest points. The sleeves measure 22 inches long. The neck opening measures 12″ wide. A previous owner wore this shirt. You will see stains, a couple of holes and signs of wear. The stitching on one of the sleeves has started to come out. The shirt is in wearable condition. One of a Kind!
