Traditional Seminole Style Jacket
Brighten up your wardrobe with this Men’s X Large Seminole jacket! Bright bands of patchwork and rickrack decorate this cotton jacket. Yellow rickrack decorates the collar, front plackets and cuffs. Large gussets under the arms make the arms more like a bat-wing for easier fit. There are no buttons or zippers on it. This jacket is not lined, so you will see all the stitching from the piecework on the inside.
Seminole people of what is now Florida have been creating colorful patchwork clothing since the early 20th century. Some of the patterns represent particular concepts or natural phenomena. The Seminoles continue to create distinctive patterned clothing today.
This jacket measures 28″ long from neck to waist and 24″ across the waist. The sleeves measure 25″ long with a 5″ wide cuff. The size is a Men’s Large/X Large. A previous owner wore this jacket, but it remains in very good wearable condition. One of a Kind!
