Knife Sheath-Fully Beaded
This Knife Sheath-Fully Beaded, featuring tipi designs on a white background, would make a great addition to your collection! Crafted in the Northern Plains style, it is made from brain-tanned deerskin with a rawhide back. The sheath showcases six tipis, meticulously beaded with sinew using the lazy stitch technique. The beadwork includes 11/0 milky green, white-center red, white, and blue seed beads. The crafter also incorporated one beaded drop and a leather handle, and added eleven tin cones as decorative drops. The sheath measures 11 inches long by 3.25 inches wide, with the beaded tassel extending an additional 6 inches. While there is some bead loss, the piece remains in good condition.
This beaded Knife Sheath is a perfect Native American regalia accessory and a valuable addition to any Native American beadwork collection.
One of a Kind!
Native American fully beaded knife sheaths are stunning examples of craftsmanship, often created using intricate beadwork on leather or hide. These sheaths serve both functional and decorative purposes, protecting knives while showcasing cultural artistry. Many designs feature geometric patterns, tribal symbols, or representations of animals, reflecting the heritage and traditions of the maker. The beadwork is typically done using lazy stitch or peyote stitch, ensuring durability and precision. Some sheaths also incorporate fringe, tassels, or metal accents like copper cone drops for added detail.
