Headdress Blackfoot Style
This Blackfoot Style Headdress reproduces a 1890s Straight Up style. The crafter used 5″ wide Strap Leather for the base and covered it with Red Wool. To create the Straight Up style, she attached Hand Painted Eagle Feathers wrapped in Red Wool. Red & Yellow imitation quillwork done with colored raffia covers Rawhide strips. She attached Red, White and Black Fluff Feathers. The tips of each Hand Painted Feather end with a tuft of Ermine Skin and White Horsehair.
More Ermine Skins cover the Base of the Headdress. The crafter added 15 0.75″ Brass Conchos to the front. Wool-wrapped Ermine Skins up to 17″ long hang from the bottom. At the back you will see a couple more Wool-wrapped Hand Painted Eagle Feathers.
This Headdress stands 18″ tall not including the Ermine drops. The base measures 23.5″ around on the outside. It is in very good, wearable condition.
