Quirt Antique Horsehair
Add this Antique Horsehair Quirt to your collection! This Quirt comes from the early 1900s. It is a notable example of Horsehair craftsmanship. The crafter braided White and Black Horsehair to make the handle and the covering for the main body of the Quirt. He attached 3.5″ long tufts of White Horsehair at the top of the handle.
For the lash, the crafter used 3/8″ wide Saddle Strap Leather.
Quirts are short riding whips found among people who herd cattle or sheep. They usually come with a braided leather lash. We recommend you use this one for display only.
It measures 32″ long overall. The lash measures 15″ long, the body 13″ long and the handle 4″ long.
A previous owner had this Quirt. You will notice some damage at the end of the handle. Otherwise, it is in very good condition.
