Top Hat Farrington & Co.
This Antique Black Top Hat comes with a grosgrain ribbon around the crown and a cream/ivory silk lining. The hat features a short brim that curls up on the sides. Grosgrain ribbon covers the edges of the brim as well. The underside of the brim is a woven fabric that has turned an olive brown color.
The napped fabric of the hat reminds us of beaver fur, but may be a wool fabric. It is very soft. It has several worn spots on it. The inside shows a stamp with Extra Quality Farrington & Co. Sackville Street Piccadilly. We have not found any information about this company. You will see that the inner lining has been pretty well shredded with the paper under-lining visible.
The top of the hat itself has cracked in a couple of places. The grosgrain ribbon has also split and separated from the edge of the brim at the front and back.
This Top Hat will make a vintage-looking accessory for your Native American Dance Regalia or an interesting addition to your collection.
The hat measures 5.25 ” tall. The top measures 7″ across and 7.75″ from front to back. The brim measures up to 1.25″ on the ends.
The opening for head measures 7.75″ in diameter on the longer side and 6.5″ on the narrower side. (Size Small).
