Shirt Child’s Seminole
This colorful Seminole style shirt is ready for a new owner! Bright bands of ribbon decorate a faded red cotton (almost like denim) shirt. The shirt comes with four snap buttons on the front and a collar. Pieces under the arms make the arms more like a bat-wing for easier fit. The shirt is not lined, so you will see all the stitching from the piecework on the inside.
Seminole people of what is now Florida have been creating colorful patchwork clothing since the early 20th century. Some of the patterns represent particular concepts or natural phenomena. The Seminoles continue to create distinctive patterned clothing today.
This Child’s shirt measures 16″ long from neck to waist. The sleeves measure 5″ long with a 5″ opening. The neck measures 5.5″ across and the shoulder measures 11″ across.
A previous owner wore this shirt, but it remains in very good wearable condition.
