Large Red Striped Ribbon Shirt with Blue Ribbon

This Ribbon Shirt Red Striped features white stripes on red fabric. Native American Ribbon Shirts are classic Powwow Regalia. This Ribbon Shirt comes in a bright red fabric with bright blue and red ribbon trim on the front.  A previous wearer added a small flag pin with a bundle of red, white and blue ribbon to the front.  The seamstress used a silky polyester fabric. This shirt is a  pull over style that does not stretch. It comes with a  collar and an open front with a hook & eye closure.  It has side vents at the bottom. The cuffs have metal snap closures.  We got this shirt from a collection, so it has been worn.  You will find it in very good, wearable condition.  One of a Kind!

Native American Ribbon Shirts are Regalia items that are worn by Native American people of many tribes and traditions.  Native Americans based them on the cotton or linen fabric shirts that European traders and colonists wore. European traders brought Silk ribbons as  trade goods to North America. The bright colors of the ribbons made them very popular among Native Americans.  In the 1800s calico fabric became available and Native Americans also made clothing from that colorful patterned cloth.

This shirt is a Men’s Large with a 27 inch chest.  It is 30.5 inches long from neck to hem with 21 inch long drop sleeves and a 9.5 inch neck opening.  One of a Kind!
