Venetian Millefiori Trade Beads Strand #881

Venetian Millefiori Trade Beads Strand #881

Venetian Millefiori Trade Beads

This strand of  Venetian Millefiori Trade Beads measures 29" long. It includes a variety of colors and sizes of glass beads. The Italian word Millefiori means "thousand flowers." It refers to the multi-layered wound mosaic glass beads. Bead artists created these in Venice beginning in the early 1800s. Traders brought a large variety of glass beads to the Americas during the colonial period. These included Padre Beads, large round Hudson Bay trade beads and Venetian Millefiori Trade Beads. They traded these beads to the Native Americans in exchange for furs. One of a Kind!
