Antique Whimsy Cushion
This unique star shaped Antique Whimsy Cushion spells out SOUVENIR 1903 on pink fabric. The crafter added prodigious quantities of Clear and White Pony Beads on the arms of the star. Sequins dot the front of the cushion. Multicolored basket beads hang in loops from the ends of the arms. It has sawdust stuffing inside.It is a classic example of a Beaded Whimsy tourist souvenir. Native American crafters in the border regions between Canada and the United States at the turn of the 20th century created many of these whimsies for the tourist trade.
A previous owner had this cushion. The beadwork remains intact, but the pink fabric shows some deterioration. The cushion measures 10" across. It measures approximately 4" "thick".
